About

TasNetworks

TasNetworks is a Tasmanian Government-owned company responsible for electricity transmission and distribution across Tasmania, managing both high-voltage transmission lines and local distribution networks. In addition to its core role in the electricity supply chain, the company also provides telecommunications services and supports the operation and maintenance of critical utility infrastructure throughout the state.

In the field of HVDC, TasNetworks is connected to the National Electricity Market via the Basslink interconnector, a 370 km high-voltage direct current (HVDC) submarine cable that links Tasmania to mainland Australia, enabling energy export and import across the network.
