Privacy Policy

Last updated: 23 May 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how HVDC World (“we”, “us”) collects, uses, and protects personal data when you use our website and the HVDC World platform (the “Service”). We are the data controller for the personal data described here. If you have any questions, contact us via our contact page.

Data we collect

  • Account data — when you create a free account or sign in (via LinkedIn or email), we receive your name and email address.
  • Contact data — information you submit through our contact or demo-request forms.
  • Usage & analytics data — pages visited, device and browser information, and similar data collected via cookies once you have consented (see our Cookie Policy).
  • Technical data — IP address and log data processed to operate and secure the Service.

Legal bases

We process personal data on the following bases under the UK/EU GDPR: consent (analytics cookies, marketing), contract (providing your account and the Service), and legitimate interests (securing the Service, understanding usage, responding to enquiries).

How we use your data

  • To provide and maintain your account and the Service.
  • To respond to enquiries and demo requests.
  • To improve and secure the Service and understand how it is used.
  • To send the HVDC newsletter where you have opted in.

Sharing & processors

We share data only with service providers who process it on our behalf, including: Supabase (authentication, database, hosting), Google Analytics (usage analytics, subject to consent), and MapTiler / Mapbox (interactive maps). LinkedIn processes your data when you choose to sign in with LinkedIn. We do not sell your personal data.

International transfers

Some providers may process data outside your country. Where this happens, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or EU Standard Contractual Clauses.

Retention

We keep personal data only as long as necessary for the purposes above, or as required by law. Account data is retained while your account is active and deleted on request.

Your rights

Subject to applicable law, you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, or object to processing of your personal data, to data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority (in the UK, the Information Commissioner’s Office). To exercise any right, contact us via our contact page.

Security

We use technical and organisational measures — including encryption in transit, access controls, and row-level security — to protect personal data. No method of transmission is completely secure.

Children

The Service is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their data.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted here with a revised “last updated” date.
