Svenska Kraftnät is the state-owned authority responsible for operating, maintaining, and developing Sweden’s electricity transmission system, ensuring it is safe, environmentally sound, and cost-effective. Headquartered in Sundbyberg, it manages the national grid and oversees the balance of electricity supply and demand across the country.


Svenska Kraftnät operates and maintains cross-border power connections, including both alternating current (AC) and high-voltage direct current (HVDC) links, supporting international electricity trade and grid stability.
