Power Grid Corporation of India Limited is a Maharatna public sector enterprise under the Ministry of Power, Government of India, and is the country’s largest electric power transmission utility. It manages and operates about 50% of India’s total power transmission, maintaining a vast interstate and inter-regional grid network with consistently high reliability and availability.


Power Grid has significant expertise in high-voltage direct current (HVDC) technology, owning and operating several major HVDC links and converter stations—such as the Vizag and Chandrapur back-to-back HVDC stations—to enable efficient long-distance bulk power transfer across the nation.
