NL Hydro
NL Hydro, officially known as Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro, is the primary generator and supplier of electricity in Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada, providing more than 91% of the province's electricity, mostly from renewable hydroelectric resources. The company owns and operates major generation assets such as Churchill Falls and Muskrat Falls, serves over 200 communities, and manages a vast transmission and distribution network across some of the province’s most challenging terrain.
NL Hydro is notably active in high-voltage direct current (HVDC) activities, operating the 1,100 km Labrador-Island Link—an HVDC transmission line that connects major hydro assets in Labrador to the island of Newfoundland as part of the Muskrat Falls project.
