National Energy System Operation (NESO)

The National Energy System Operator (NESO) is the UK's publicly owned organization responsible for planning and managing Britain's energy system, established to accelerate the energy transition and ensure reliable power supply while working towards clean power by 2030 and net zero targets. NESO takes a cross-sector approach by overseeing electricity, gas and hydrogen networks, as well as renewable generation and emerging technologies.

In the HVDC (High Voltage Direct Current) domain, NESO coordinates infrastructure development and grid connections to integrate renewable energy sources, helping to deploy clean power generation across the UK electricity grid as part of its strategic planning responsibilities.
