Minnesota Power, a division of ALLETE, Inc., is an electric utility serving 150,000 customers across a 26,000-square-mile territory in northeastern Minnesota, supplying both residential and some of the nation’s largest industrial customers. The company’s energy mix is more than 50% renewable, and it has a history of serving the region since its incorporation in 1906.

In the area of HVDC (high-voltage direct current), Minnesota Power is a critical participant, notably operating the Square Butte HVDC transmission line, which delivers power from North Dakota to Minnesota and supports grid reliability and long-distance electricity transmission.
