About
Intermountain Power Agency
Intermountain Power Agency (IPA) is a political subdivision of the State of Utah organized in 1977, comprising 23 Utah municipalities that own electric utilities. IPA owns the Intermountain Power Project (IPP), which generates an average of more than 13 million megawatt hours of energy each year from its facility located in the Great Basin region of western Utah.
IPA is currently transitioning from coal-fueled generation to hydrogen-capable natural gas-fueled generation through its IPP Renewed project, which includes the construction of an 840 MW class gas turbine combined cycle plant that will start with a 30% hydrogen fuel mix in 2025 and increase to 100% hydrogen generation by 2045.
