Great River Energy is a not-for-profit electric cooperative based in Minnesota, supplying electricity to over 1.7 million people through 27 member distribution cooperatives and serving as the state's second largest electric utility. The organization operates 11 power plants, incorporates a diverse energy portfolio including renewables, and owns or co-owns more than 100 transmission substations and nearly 4,800 miles of transmission lines.
Great River Energy operates a unique high-voltage direct-current (HVDC) transmission line, which is integral to its power delivery network and distinguishes its infrastructure within the region.
