Centre for Doctoral Training in Offshore Renewable Energy

The Centre for Doctoral Training in Offshore Renewable Energy (IDCORE) is a collaboration between the Universities of Edinburgh, Exeter, and Strathclyde, along with the Scottish Association for Marine Science. It provides advanced doctoral training that combines technical, environmental, and economic aspects of offshore renewable energy, preparing graduates for leadership roles in industry and academia.

IDCORE's activities include research and education in electrical engineering relevant to offshore renewables, such as the design and operation of offshore electrical infrastructure. This involves work on high voltage direct current (HVDC) systems, which are critical for the efficient transmission of power from offshore installations to onshore grids.
