Augstsprieguma tīkls AS (AST) is the independent electricity transmission system operator for Latvia, overseeing the national power grid infrastructure at 110 kV and above. The company is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and development of Latvia’s high-voltage transmission network, ensuring the security and reliability of electricity supply for the country.

In relation to HVDC, AST plays a key role in cross-border power transmission by operating interconnections that support Latvia’s integration in the regional and European electricity markets, and participates in major synchronization projects, such as connecting the Baltic power grid with Continental Europe, which includes both AC and HVDC components.
