ACORE Macro Grid Initiative
The ACORE Macro Grid Initiative is a program dedicated to expanding and upgrading America's transmission network to deliver job growth, economic development, a cleaner environment, and lower costs for consumers. By building support for nationwide transmission upgrades, the initiative aims to integrate more low-cost renewable energy, enhance grid resilience, and enable a modern electric system capable of meeting 21st-century demands.
Specifically, the Macro Grid Initiative promotes the deployment of advanced high-voltage transmission technologies, including high-voltage direct current (HVDC) lines, to better connect regions with abundant renewable resources to areas with high electricity demand. The initiative has played a key role in advancing some of the largest recent transmission expansions in the U.S., helping to maximize the efficiency and capacity of the grid through HVDC infrastructure and related policy reforms.
