About
Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN)
Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) is a major UK electricity network operator responsible for both electricity transmission and distribution, delivering power to over 3.9 million homes and businesses across the north of Scotland and central southern England. Part of the SSE plc group, SSEN manages extensive distribution and transmission networks that span some of the UK’s most challenging terrains.
SSEN is actively involved in high-voltage direct current (HVDC) projects, primarily through SSEN Transmission, its subsidiary responsible for the high-voltage transmission network in northern Scotland, which includes key investments and operations in underground and subsea HVDC cables.
