Landsnet is the transmission system operator responsible for owning and operating Iceland’s high-voltage power grid, overseeing all electrical lines and infrastructure transmitting electricity at 66kV or higher. Established in 2005 and majority owned by the Icelandic government, the company manages the stability and reliability of Iceland’s electricity transmission network from its headquarters in Reykjavík.


Regarding HVDC (high-voltage direct current), Landsnet’s main focus is on managing Iceland’s national AC grid, and there is no indication of significant HVDC projects or operations within the company’s current activities.
