KETRACO
The Kenya Electricity Transmission Company Limited (KETRACO) is a wholly government-owned corporation established in 2008 to plan, design, construct, own, operate, and maintain Kenya's high voltage electricity transmission grid and regional power interconnectors. KETRACO is responsible for ensuring reliable power supply and enhancing the national transmission infrastructure, with a mandate covering high voltage lines of 132kV and above, as well as fostering regional electricity trade.
In the area of HVDC (High Voltage Direct Current), KETRACO is involved in the planning and development of advanced transmission systems, including interconnectors that support cross-border power exchange and grid stability across the region. Their activities in HVDC facilitate greater integration with neighboring countries and participation in the Eastern Africa Power Pool.
