About
InterOPERA
InterOPERA is a Horizon Europe-funded project that brings together 21 European partners to develop technical frameworks and standards for electricity transmission, with the overarching goal of enabling interoperability among multi-vendor high voltage direct current (HVDC) grids. Its mission supports the European Union’s target to deploy 300 GW of offshore wind by 2050 by ensuring that different HVDC systems and components from various suppliers can work together seamlessly to accelerate the energy transition.
The project’s activities specifically focus on making future HVDC systems mutually compatible and interoperable by design, which is essential for the grid-forming capabilities of offshore energy and the efficient integration of large-scale renewable power into the European grid.
