Eletrobras (Centrais Elétricas Brasileiras S.A.) is the leading electricity generation and transmission company in Brazil and the largest utility in Latin America, responsible for more than 22% of Brazil’s generation capacity and managing nearly 38% of the country’s transmission network. Founded in 1962 and now a publicly traded company, Eletrobras operates a predominantly renewable energy portfolio, with the vast majority of its power generated from low-emission sources such as hydro, wind, and solar.

Eletrobras is a key player in high-voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission in Brazil, participating in major HVDC projects that are integral to the country’s long-distance, high-capacity power transmission infrastructure.
